SDS 2024 Terms & Conditions:
1. Fees
All dance lessons will be invoiced by the Term, unless requested otherwise to be invoiced 'Pay as you go'. Reminder that our Term dates do not align with school term dates (see SDS Term Dates) Pro rata adjustments are made for new students enrolling part way through a term. All invoices are issued via email. It is vital that SDS has a correct and regularly accessed email address on file.
Invoices are sent out with a minimum of 2 weeks notice before due date. If you are unable to pay fees within the above period please get in touch with us to arrange a payment plan. If any invoices reach 14 days overdue/outstanding, a 15% late fee will automatically be added to the invoice. SDS reserves the right to exclude the corresponding student from participating until the invoice is paid in full.
In the event where overdue fees/invoices remain unpaid for a duration of 30 days, I agree that if the debt is referred to a collection agency and/or law firm, I will be liable for all costs which would be incurred as if the debt is collected in full. This includes solicitor’s fees, commission on collection of all costs including any additional costs, legal demand costs and any out of pocket expenses incurred to Sharni’s Dance Squad.
I understand that there are additional costs throughout the year for costumes, potential extra rehearsals and performances (in which you will be notified in advance). Further details on 2024 fees are listed on our website www.sharnisdancesquad.com.au.
2. SDS Term Dates 2024
Term 1: Mon 5th Feb - Sun 7th April (9 weeks)
Term 2: Mon 15th April - Sun 30th June (11 weeks)
Term 3: Mon 8th July - Sun 22nd Sep (11 weeks)
Term 4: Mon 30th Sep - Sun 1st Dec (9 weeks)
3. Missed Classes
There is no refund of fees for missed classes. Please make sure you advise if your child will be away in order to be eligible for a credit. No credits are given for missed classes unless sufficient notice is given (2 weeks minimum) / where a class is cancelled. Parents may request a credit for any student injury or illness resulting in four consecutive weeks of missed classes. Requests must be sent via email with a medical certificate provided. There is no option for 'make up classes'
4. Public Holidays/Pupil Free Days/School Holidays
SDS Dance classes continue on all public holidays and pupil free days. The first week of each school holidays will run as normal. The second week of each school holidays will break (no regular classes will run). You will not be charged for this second week of school holidays where there are no regular classes running. We will offer pop up classes as an alternative on the second week of school holidays and this will be charged at a seperate cost
5. Enrolment
A non-refundable $10 enrolment fee is required each term regardless of sign up date being the beginning or close to end of term. This secures your child's spot in their class/es and contributes towards studio admin, maintenance and insurance costs.
6. Concert Participation/Performances
Participation in all performances during the year is optional. If you wish for your child not to participate, you must give notice upon submitting their enrolment form. Otherwise we will assume they are signing up for all performances. Minimum 4 weeks notice is given to parents for all performances.
7. Cancellations
I agree that I am liable to pay a drop out fee of $30 if my child ceases enrolment in their class (effective 4 weeks from enrolment date). If dropping out of two classes, the fee doubles ie $60. Any pre paid lessons will be refunded or credited to another family member who is enrolled.
I agree that I am liable to pay a drop out fee of $50 if my child ceases enrolment in their class within the two weeks leading up to any given performance where I have stated they will be performing. This is to compensate for extra time spent by our instructors and admin re arranging plus any extra rehearsal time needed. These charges are multiplied per class (example – student ceases enrolment in two classes, the charge would be $100).
If my child unexpectedly cannot perform at any given performance in the two weeks leading up (including the day of), the above fee will be halved. A medical certificate may be requested
8. Communication
It is the parent’s responsibility to read relevant notices, information and updates issued via email to the email address provided at the time of enrolment and to notify us of any changes to contact details. Email is the primary form of communication at SDS. We also have a Facebook Group called 'SDS Parents & Students 2024'. Notices are also posted in this group so we highly recommend joining this group. You will need to request to join. Link below

9. Drop Off/Pick Up
All SDS students are the responsibility of the studio for the duration of their class only. Before and after class is the responsibility of the parent/carer. It is the parents/carers responsibility to collect their child immediately after their class has finished directly from the studio or from the bottom of the stairway in direct eye sight. Under no circumstances are any students to walk into the carpark where they cannot physically see their parent/guardian.
Students are to wait upstairs in our studio reception until they can see their parent/guardian as our reception is not always staffed. Students who are dropped off to the studio early, waiting back late to be collected or waiting at the studio inbetween classes may wait in the studio lounge, however are NOT guaranteed to be supervised by SDS teachers or staff so it is at the discretion of the parent/carer if you leave your child at the studio unsupervised. The same rules apply for siblings or other minors who are present at the studio
10. SDS Studio Ettiquette
All persons on the SDS premises are asked to respect the space by placing rubbish in bins and leaving the kitchen, toilets and all waiting areas tidy, including returning toys and activities for siblings back into their packaging/boxes etc. Students waiting before, between and after classes are expected to behave appropriately at these times. Parents/Guardians or other visitors to the studio are expected to behave in a respectful manner and be aware of appropriate vocabulary around minors. No smoking or consumption of alcohol is permitted on site.
SDS is not responsible for loss of personal property and will not email or SMS parents of classes in regards to any lost property items. SDS accepts no responsibility for the loss of or damage to personal property of any kind.
11. Uniform Standards
Appropriate dance wear and shoes are to be worn in class. Hair is to be worn neatly tied back and preferably in a bun for any ballet classes. No jewellery or watches are permitted, as they can be hazardous when dancing (SDS teachers may take these from students and return at end of class). If you are unsure what footwear your child needs to wear, please contact SDS staff (example Cheer classes must wear supportive sneakers). We like to be relaxed on uniform standards - so it is ok to wear non-branded SDS uniforms but we highly recommend to do so. Our uniform rack is out during all classes to purchase items and we also have a Facebook group for reselling/purhcasing second hand SDS uniforms. https://www.facebook.com/groups/295103224827660
12. Physical Contact/First Aid
Physical contact from the teaching staff is required for corrective purposes. It will be necessary by a staff member or student of the studio to demonstrate exercises, try on costumes and administer first aid if required by using physical contact. The Director and all teachers of SDS hold a valid Blue Card/WWCC as required. A stocked first aid kit is accessible to all classes at all times. In the event of a medical emergency, if parents are unreachable, it is understood that the teacher reserves the right to call for an ambulance service or administer first aid if qualified and if necessary.
13. Photography Consent
I agree to photographs/video recordings of my child being taken and appearing on social media/public pages. I understand that the images used are only for educational and advertising purposes, and the identity of my child will be protected.
14. Liability Disclaimer
I agree and understand that by participating in any dance class, workshop, rehearsal or performance, in person or via online classes, there is a possibility of physical injury, accident or death. I understand that my child should be aware of their physical limitations and agree not to exceed them. I assume all risks and therefore exempt, release, and indemnify Sharni’s Dance Squad including owners, employees, assistants, volunteers, other students and facilities, from any claims or demands now and in the future.
